A Day In The Life: Emma, Marketing Executive

Have you ever wondered what an average working day looks like in somebody else’s world? Here we talk to Emma, our newly appointed Marketing Executive who talks us through a typical day in Marketing

How did you become a Marketing Executive?

I actually studied Fashion Communication & Promotion at university which introduced me to the world of marketing. I then went on to graduate and bagged my first job as a Brand Assistant at a fashion brand, where I worked for 2 years. Working here made me realise it was marketing which was my passion, and so i decided to put all my focus onto this.

Can you tell us what an average day in the office looks like for you?

Before anything, I usually make sure I’m equipped with a good cup of tea to start the day. My first task will be to check my emails/slack and update myself in the world of social media, making sure we aren’t missing any opportunities. After this, I put my focus onto Lead Forensics which helps track any prospects, and familiarise myself with any which appear.

My morning routine is usually the same, however after this, every day is different. From scheduling social media posts, creating email campaigns, emailing prospects, writing blog posts or thinking of new campaign ideas- each day is a new challenge.

Have you always wanted to be a Marketing Executive?

Up until being in my first graduate position, I never really knew what I wanted to do. Going into University I had goals of becoming a stylist or creative director, but it wasn’t until I was introduced to the world of marketing that I was confident in knowing which direction I wanted to take. I was extremely lucky in my first graduate job to have the freedom to try so many different areas of a business, which in turn helped me gain the experience I needed to become a Marketing Executive.

What has been your favourite project to work on?

I haven’t been with Urbansoul for long, so the project list isn’t too big at the moment. However, I would say the project I have enjoyed the most so far was writing and helping create a marketing letter designed for schools.

What are the more challenging aspects of being a Marketing Executive?

For my particular role at Urbansoul, the most challenging aspect so far is getting an understanding of the terminology used for all things web design and development. However, every day I learn something new and the team here are great at helping me out with things that aren’t in my forte!

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I love the creative freedom of my job here at Urbansoul. Working with such a small team means everyone’s ideas are listened too and you feel your opinion matters.
